Even though the BRS leaders raised a stink after the SIT pasted a notice at his Nandinagar residence in Banjara Hills, Rao, popularly known as KCR, wrote a six-page-long letter to the investigators, agreeing to appear before them at 3 pm tomorrow.
The BRS president also requested the SIT to conduct the questioning in his farmhouse in the Medak district instead of Hyderabad.
The BRS, however, has alleged that the notice was issued just after they approached Governor Jishnu Dev Varma for an inquiry into the alleged coal scam, accusing the Congress government of attempting to distract people with the notice to Rao.
Recently, another former minister and BRS leader, T Harish Rao, was grilled by the SIT for seven hours.
BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, said the phone-tapping case was dragging on so long that television serials that had started during this period wound up their episodes by this time.
Threatening legal action, the notice asked Bandi Sanjay to tender an unconditional apology to Rao, popularly known as KTR and cautioned him against making any such defamatory statements against him or his family in the future.
