Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel retires from all form of cricket

Parthiv Patel also said that he found it quite a challenge to keep to Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan, especially when the ball was reverse swinging.
The likes of Dinesh Karthik and Parthiv Patel, who made their international debut before Dhoni, were overlooked for the job as Dhoni had cemented his place in the Indian team as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
"Dhoni was always clear about his team combinations and the role each player had to play in the squad," said Parthiv Patel.
Parthiv put his weight behind youngster Rishabh Pant, who was touted as the successor of MS Dhoni for the glovework.
Patel led Gujarat to the 2016 Ranji Trophy title. His last Test appearance for India was in 2018, while the last time he played an ODI for the country was way back in 2012.
The 35-year-old added that he tapes the little finger to ensure it remains intact when he plays as the cut finger doesn't fit inside his keeping gloves.
