Replying to the two-day debate on the no-confidence motion against Speaker Birla, Shah said that the House is not a marketplace and that the members are expected to follow the rules.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said the notice for a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was submitted at 1.14 pm today.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh on Thursday rejected the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition against Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, calling it "an act of impropriety" to "mar the reputation of the chairman".
Pralhad Joshi said," Sansad TV is not under Speaker's control and not even under our control. So we don't know what happened. If anything unparliamentary is said it is expunged and it has been an old practice. This is nothing new."
Referring to BJP which is in power both at the Centre and in Manipur, he said, “you killed Bharat Mata in Manipur”.
"We are not in the UDF as we have been ousted, so the UDF whip is not applicable to us. Moreover, the whip has to be issued by the respective party whip. I have issued the whip and it's to stay away from it (from the motion). We have not decided on if we need to be present in the house when the motion is moved, or if we need to stay away from the house," he said.
The Narendra Modi government on Friday passed the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition with the government getting 325 out of a total 451 votes.
Top leaders of the BJP and the Opposition, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi, will take part in the debate that will conclude with a reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu had sought the support of other parties for the motion, citing the NDA government's "non-fulfilment of the promise" in granting special status to his state.
The BJP has exuded confidence that all NDA allies including the Shiv Sena will vote against the no confidence motion in Parliament on Friday.
