Nayab Singh Saini was appointed new Haryana CM after Manohar Lal Khattar and his Cabinet resigned on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old Kurukshetra MP, who is considered as Manohar Lal Khattar's confidante, was sworn in as the Haryana Chief Minister during a swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh this evening.
The development comes shortly after Khattar and his Cabinet tendered their resignation to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya.
Nayab Singh Saini, a first-time Lok Sabha member, is expected to strengthen BJP's hold among the OBC community while Jats are believed to be supporting the Congress, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), the political parties led by Jat leaders.
The CM made these announcements while speaking at the state-level Rajkiya Sharamik Divas Samaroh organized by the Labour Department, on the occasion of Vishvakarma Jayanti, in Karnal on Monday.
