State Agriculture Secretary Rakesh Kanwar asked the officials to engage with farmers to work on area expansion under natural farming ahead of Kharif season.

The team of scientists working on SPNF at the University main campus, Mashobra, and Tabo took part in the meeting. Dr. Subhash Verma, Coordinator of the SPNF at the university presented the progress report of the research activities on various crops carried out over the past year.
He said that the state government had set a target of covering 50,000 families under natural farming in the state during the year 2019 but succeeded in covering about 55,000 families.
The state generally contributes 30-40 per cent of total apple production in India, followed by Kashmir, which is at the top with 50 per cent production.
