In the two cases, the NIA has named a total of 23 accused. One chargesheet, running to 54 pages, names 22 accused, while the second, comprising 11 pages, names one accused.
The attachment was carried out by a team of the central agency following due process of law.
The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday sought a response from the Centre on a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the National Investigation Agency Act, observing that the issues raised were of “vital importance.”
The duo, identified as Zameer Ahmad Ahangar of Ganderbal (J&K) and Tufail Ahmad Bhat of Srinagar (J&K), were formally arrested by NIA for their active involvement in the conspiracy related to the Delhi blast.
On the other hand, the member who was arrested from Chhindwara has been identified as Karim. A case was registered against these accused under UAPA (Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967) and other relevant sections, the release added.
The fresh raids were conducted almost five months after the NIA arrested the 10th accused in connection with the case.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the Ram Navami violence in Howrah and Hooghly districts of West Bengal, on Wednesday, sought from the state police all the documents, including copies of the FIRs, related to the case.
Following the clashes, the Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari had approached the same Bench of the Calcutta High Court with the plea for a central agency probe.
The officer has been identified as Vishal Garg, who is deputed at the Delhi headquarters of the NIA. This is the second time since 2019 that Garg was placed under suspension on charges of corruption.
