Cheetahs brought from Namibia, South Africa rechristened
This year on 18 February, 7 males and 5 females were brought from South Africa to the KNP. The males have been named Vayu, Agni, Tejas, Suraj, Uday, Prabhas and Pavak.

PM Modi congratulated the winners of the contest wherein the citizens have to come up with suggestions for cheetahs reintroduced from Namibia and South Africa.
With the death of Sasha, there are now 19 cheetahs left in the Kuno Palpur National park.
Madhya Pradesh Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah on Wednesday said after Namibia, now Cheetahs were expected to soon arrive from South Africa.
India is working with South Africa and Namibia for the reintroduction of more Cheetahs in India.
