Kashmir’s chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Friday renewed his call for dialogue and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, saying the vision of his slain father, Molvi Farooq, remains as relevant today as it was 36 years ago.
Describing it as “commendable”, Mirwaiz also lauded the stand taken by revered Pope Leo on the US-Israel war with Iran and appealed to all global religious leaders of all communities to put their weight behind it, calling for global peace and justice for all humanity .

The Protesters also raised anti-Pakistan slogans while pulling down the board. They also held a candle light protest outside the Hurriyat office.
The moderate Hurriyat Conference on Friday claimed that the Jammu and Kashmir authorities have gone back on their decision to release the Mirwaiz from detention.
PDP's Srinagar district president and MLC Mohammad Khurshid Alam hailed the statement of the Mirwaiz and said that such gestures from a tall religious leader are welcome and will for sure help in bringing a positive change on the ground.
It is worth mentioning that the BJP leadership had built the party’s Lok Sabha election campaign around the Pulwama issue and terrorism in Kashmir and Shah had, in his election rallies, spoken of iron fist action against terrorists and scrapping the controversial Articles 370 and 35A that “encourage” separatism in J&K.
