The hardest-hit regions — Amritsar, Ferozepur, Abohar, Fazilka, and Jalandhar — account for nearly 3.5 lakh of the affected people who are struggling for essential supplies.
Himachal Pradesh government's efforts to strengthen the rural economy by hiking milk procurement price is yielding positive results with a consistent rise in milk procurement. The HP State Co-operative Milk Producers Federation Ltd is now on an average procuring two lakh litres per day.
Stating this, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said here on Friday that average milk procurement has reached a record high of 1.90 lakh liters per day (LLPD), registering an 18 percent increase from the previous 1.40 LLPD.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said a state-of-the-art milk processing plant is proposed at Dagwar in the Kangra district.
Milk processing plants in the state which are dilapidated are set to get a technological upgrade.
