In a parallel relief measure, the government has allowed the sale of 5-kg FTL cylinders without requiring address proof. Beneficiaries can now obtain these cylinders from authorised distributors by presenting a valid identity card.
Three migrant labourers from West Bengal — two from Birbhum district and one from East Burdwan — have been detained in Gujarat on suspicion of being illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

The labourers, including nine minors, were being taken to toil in brick kilns near Hyderabad city when the police intercepted the vehicle in which they boarded and rescued them from a labour trap.

These migrant labourers, a group of around 20 of them, were travelling from Hyderabad and going to Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh and Etah in Uttar Pradesh in a truck carrying mangoes.
There had been numerous reports of thousands of migrants protesting and demanding their return to their home states and some even attempted to sneak their way out in tankers, containers, concrete mixers, while many others walked hundreds or thousands of kms to reach their homes.
The ticket cost of the train travel will be borne by the state government, which will cost around Rs 7.12 lakh, said the officials.
As the nationwide lockdown to contain coronavirus was extended for another two weeks, the government started running special trains from Friday for migrants to travel to their home states.
It also said that the originating state will provide adequate security at the designated station to ensure that only those passengers, who have been cleared by state government to travel and have valid train ticket for journey, should enter station premises.
