Responding to a question on India-US trade talks while addressing his weekly media briefing in New Delhi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We continue to remain engaged with the US side to conclude a trade deal, and these discussions are continuing..."
The remarks from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) came amid escalating trade tensions between India and the United States over India's oil purchases from Russia. US President Donald Trump recently increased tariffs imposed on Indian goods to 50 per cent, in what is seen as a sign of his frustration over failing to stop the Russia-Ukraine war.
“Mutual trust, mutual sensitivity, and mutual respect form the basis of India-China relations,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.
She also condemned the malicious misinformation campaign being run by Pakistan, which falsely claimed that an Indian S-400 system had been destroyed and that airfields at Surat and Sirsa had sustained damage.
The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday said that a Pakistani fighter aircraft was shot down in an aerial engagement by Indian Air Force but an Indian fighter pilot went missing in action during the engagement.
