The 14-km race concluded at Gopabandhu Stadium amid enthusiastic support from residents of the port township and various organisations. A total of 336 runners participated, including 280 men and 56 women.
This edition of the race will bring together an elite international field alongside India’s best, competing for a total prize purse of US$142,214. Maintaining its commitment to parity, the event offers equal prize money for men and women, with the top three finishers set to earn Rs 3,00,000, Rs 2,50,000 and Rs 2,00,000, respectively, in addition to an Event Record Bonus of Rs 1,00,000.
Addressing the participants, Marathon enthusiasts and officials, the Lieutenant Governor said that the soaring spirit of 1100 runners is a testament to the Marathon's ability to unite them and strengthen the brotherhood through shared experiences.
The IAF’s war hero, who fought against all odds in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the nation's highest gallantry award. The half-marathon aims to unite fitness, patriotism, and national pride under one banner.
