Maoist insurgents in Chhattisgarh killed two education volunteers (Shiksha Doots) in separate incidents across Bijapur district and destroyed a telecommunications tower in Narayanpur district, officials confirmed today.
This incident follows a recent escalation of tensions along the Chhattisgarh border.
The insurgents, in police fatigues, reached Chaura around 6 a.m. and barged into the cabin of Station Master Vinay Kumar. They ordered Kumar to stop operations as they were celebrating Maoist week in the region.
