Maoist guerrillas opposing road construction work, on Friday torched six vehicles in Jharkhand’s Gumla district and warned labourers against working without their permission.
The incident took place at Navani village, situated Ghaghra Police station of Gumla district.
According to police, guerrillas of the banned Maoist organisation, People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), attacked a stone crusher belonging to a person, Arun Pandey, and set on fire six vehicles early on Friday.

The guerrillas also fired in the air and left a pamphlet claiming responsibility for the incident, police said.
The crusher was being used in road construction.
Through the pamphlet, the Maoists also appealed to labourers not to work on the crusher.
The denial of levy to the rebels is said to be the reason for the incident.
Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
