The political developments gathered pace on Monday when senior leaders, including Firhad Hakim and Aroop Biswas, were seen in the special session of the rival faction at a five star hotel in the eastern fringes of the city.

All the six councillors, said to be close associates of previous Chandannagar MLA Indranil Sen, resigned on Friday, May 29.
This comes after the BJP delivered a crushing defeat to the TMC in the recently concluded state Assembly polls, crowning long-time Mamata-loyalist Suvendu Adhikari as the first chief minister of West Bengal from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
