"The BJP must explain how such alliances came about. You (the media) should ask the BJP how these alliances get formed. Their leaders may have taken these decisions for power. Senior BJP leaders should take action against this," Shinde told media persons here.
The BJP is expected to field senior leaders, including party's state president Rajiv Chandrasekhar, former Union Minister V Muraleedharan, former state president K Surendran, Shobha Surendran in the upcoming polls.
The voting for the two-phased local body elections in Kerala started on Tuesday morning. State Election Commissioner A Shajahan said the first phase of polling was underway in seven districts and described the process as "peaceful".

Until now, urban governance in these three major cities was managed by two municipal bodies each.
The DMK and its allies had a landslide victory in the district panchayat unions winning 138 of the 140 seats and it performed exceedingly well in the panchayat unions as well as village panchayats.
The nine districts that are going for rural local body polls are Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi.
The elections are going to be the first test for Bommai as Belagavi, Kalburgi, and Hubballi-Dharwad corporations are located in the north Karnataka region, considered as the BJP bastion.
The voting will take place on 18 November and results will be declared on 20 November.
