Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan announced on Monday that the Punjab government is set to introduce a Bill aimed at significantly strengthening the legal framework and judicial processes to combat incidence of sacrilege in the state.
He said that medical treatment for any poor or middle-class family will no longer be disrupted due to financial constraints. Under this scheme, every resident of Punjab will be entitled to free health insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per year.
He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for urgent intervention to protect the interests of farmers, millers and exporters.
He remembered the supreme sacrifice made by Guru Sahib and his sons for protecting the Sikh community from the cruelty of tyranny Mughal rulers. He said Guru Sahib promoted universal brotherhood, secularism, and protected human rights.
