Tourist resort Kufri near Shimla received the season’s third major spell of snowfall on Sunday, reviving winter festivities and drawing tourists in large numbers, while several parts of Himachal Pradesh experienced rain and snow under the influence of an active western disturbance.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued notice to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Shimla, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) in the case of damage to forest by plying of horses and mules in Kufri.
The remedial measures would include taking “forest clearance” for plying of horses.
The snowfall has intensified cold wave across the state bringing down the temperature drastically.

Having got recovered at the quarantine centre in Himalaya Nature Park Kufri, the snow leopard cub (six to eight months old) is now being taken back to the natural habitat in tribal belt Spiti, as the wildlife team has probably sighted the ‘mother’ leopard in camera traps in the same area.
