The botany department of the state-aided Banowarilal Bhalotia (BB) College under Kazi Nazrul University (KNU) has come forward to plant about 5,000 saplings of the almost extinct species, Terminalia Elliptica (Asan tree), which were once found in abundance in Asansol.
Though he has not tendered any written resignation letter to anybody till today.
Kazi Nazrul University at Kalla in Asansol is setting up a Nazrul Centre for Social and Cultural Studies at a cost of Rs 10 crores, informed Dr Debashis Banerjee, vicechancellor of KNU.
The University's Nazrul Research Centre also has gathered huge carbon discs of 78 rpm from multiple record labels bearing Nazrul Geeti numbers.
