Justice Surya Kant was sworn in as the 53rd Chief Justice of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. After the ceremony, he shared a warm hug with outgoing CJI BR Gavai, who had recommended him as his successor.
Justice Surya Kant will take oath on November 24.
If approved, Justice Kant will become the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI) and assume office upon Justice Gavai’s demitting charge on November 23.
