Leading educational institutions in Delhi are actively contributing to the India Semiconductor Mission by training students in semiconductor design, testing, and validation, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said on Saturday.
The University clearly stated that action will be taken against the culprits under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to ensure a proper academic environment on the campus.
Following nearly a week of strike action, a confrontation at JNU has snowballed into a political flashpoint, with ABVP alleging organised violence and demanding arrests.
In a statement shared on X, the JNU administration said that universities are centres for innovation and cannot be allowed to turn into "laboratories of hate".
Reported sloganeering at JNU has triggered strong reactions from BJP, Left and Congress leaders, turning a campus protest into a wider political debate.
“Everything shouldn’t be always law centric. The government should also gauge the public mood and I think, as per the public mood, the government should immediately scrap this law,” said Nandita Rao, a Supreme Court lawyer.
The first students' strike took place in 1920 in King Edward Medical College, Lahore (now in Pakistan), against the academic discrimination between Indian and English pupils.
The police have also send legal notice to 37 more people who were part of the WhatsApp group involved in the violence.
She termed the protests against the CAA and NRC to be the result of widespread anger and frustration among the people against the BJP government.
'I challenge Mamata Banerjee and Rahul Baba to find out any provision from CAA that can take citizenship away from anyone in this county,' Shah said.
