Giving details, the Police said that on 29 July, an information was received regarding a narcotic packet being dropped in village Chhan Tanda, Hiranagar near the International Border (IB). On swift response by Police and BSF, approximately 447gm of opium was recovered. On this, FIR 107/25 under 8/18/19 NDPS Act & 13 UAPA was registered at police station Hiranagar and investigation was started.
Stressing that these measures hold the highest priority, the Chief Secretary made it clear that the directives emanate directly from the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and must, therefore, be implemented with the utmost urgency and seriousness.
Mehbooba wrote on X, “Fruit growers have been facing severe financial losses every year due to the closure of NH 44. Unfortunately this year the road has once again been closed leaving hundreds of fruit laden vehicles stranded resulting in inevitable losses”.
