JDU President Nitish Kumar has nominated his close aide Shravan Kumar as the leader of the party’s legislative wing. The Assembly Secretariat issued a notification to this effect on Tuesday.
BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary took oath as the 24th Chief Minister of Bihar on Wednesday in a brief and low-profile ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Patna. Along with him, Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary from the JD(U) quota were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers.
BJP’s Chief Minister-designate Samrat Choudhary has several strengths — his caste background, his administrative abilities, his age, and his closeness to key NDA ally Janata Dal (United)—that together worked in his favour as the party looked for a replacement for Nitish Kumar.
Tyagi, who served as the Chief Spokesperson and General Secretary of the JDU, has been with the party since its merger with the Samata Party on October 30, 2003.

The Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party held separate programmes in Patna on Sunday and paid tribute to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on the eve of his birth anniversary.
However, the event further damaged the party’s position as prominent leaders present at the press conference were sidelined and the party spokesperson also refused to take questions from the media.
