An anti-CAA march led by Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC) from Jamia campus to Parliament on Monday was stopped by security forces near Holy Family Hospital in Okhla. The protest was against CAA, NRC and NPR, contentious decisions by the government which had triggered massive protests across the nation.
Panaji Police have arrested Satish Nilkanthe, a Maharashtra resident, for allegedly stabbing the student, search is on for three other accused who are on the run.
Hundreds of students brought out the rally this afternoon from Sahid Minar ground and marched towards the state BJP headquarter on the C R Avenue.
On Friday, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) visited the campus to probe the incident.
The court, was hearing petitions requesting the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the violence at the Jamia Millia Islamia on Sunday, has issued a notice to the Centre, the Delhi government and the police.
On Tuesday Delhi Police arrested ten people in connection with the violence perpetrated at Jamia out of which none were students of the University.
She also said that activism per se is not new to universities and attributed the same to idealism that guides a student because of his/her age.
According to the Act, members of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, till December 31, 2014, facing religious persecution there, will not be treated as illegal immigrants but given Indian citizenship.
