Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Hubli-Dharwad Central Assembly constituency Jagadish Shettar on Wednesday voted in SBI School in Madhura colony and said he would get elected with a huge margin.
Former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jagadish Shettar met Rahul Gandhi on Sunday for the first time after joining Congress and said that he became a part of the grand old party because of the "ill-treatment" advocated by the BJP.
Amit Shah will arrive in Bengaluru on for a two-day tour during which he will hold a roadshow and crucial meeting on countering rebellion.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the joining of the Congress by a prominent Lingayat leader would empower the party.
The Congress in Karnataka has got a shot in the arm with senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar switching over to it.
"There will be no demands from Jagadish Shettar, we do not offer anything. He (Jagadish Shettar) will have to agree with the principles and the leadership of the party. We want to keep the country united and only Congress can do that," Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar told reporters.
"I am glad re-appointment process has started and production will resume. We will extend all support to the company and its employees to ensure continuity," he said.
