According to the city's travel agency operators, there are currently around 1 lakh people from Lucknow in Gulf countries. They are stranded in Gulf countries such as Iran, Oman, Bahrain, Muscat, Riyadh, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah.
The development comes a day after Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi dialed External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss the evolving situation in and around Iran.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the government is tracking the developments in Iran and the Indian Embassy is in touch with the student and expatriate Indians.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Indian Embassy in Tehran is continously monitoring the situation and engaging with Indian nationals to esnure their safety.
