The Authority announced an investment of ₹1,350 crore to accelerate the development of inland waterway transport and river cruise infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh following the signing of the MoUs during India Maritime Week 2025.
During the event, Paradip Port Authority was honoured with the Maritime Excellence Achievers Award under the category “Best Exhibit Award for Future Port Concept” at India Maritime Week 2025.
Speaking at the India Maritime Week 2025 here, he noted, “When the global seas are rough, the world looks for a steady lighthouse,” adding that India can fulfil such a responsibility with great strength.
Speaking at the India Maritime Week on Wednesday, Puri said that the maritime sector is poised to attract Rs 8 trillion of investment and also going to create 1.5 crore new jobs by 2047.
Speaking at the second day of the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, the minister said guided by the vision of Net Zero by 2070, the country is determined to reduce carbon emission per ton of the cargo up to 30 per cent by the year 2030, and 70 per cent by 2047.
The event, being held at the NESCO Exhibition Centre, will convene top CEOs, investors, policymakers, and international partners to deliberate on the future of the global maritime ecosystem.
He said global leaders in the shipping line have expressed confidence in the country’s capacity and capability, which is very important.
