The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across parts of Tamil Nadu over the next three days, even as the state continues to experience intense summer heat, with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius in several districts.
Heavy rainfall is likely to lash several districts of Tamil Nadu on January 9 and 10, particularly across the delta and northern coastal regions, following the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.
Under its influence, the Tirupati and Nellore districts would receive heavy rains accompanied by squally winds up to 60 kmph, before the deep depression is likely to fizzle out gradually on Tuesday.
