In an official statement, the party said Kharge and Gandhi would lead the programme being organised to safeguard farmers’ interests and amplify concerns over provisions in the trade deal that it believes could harm India’s agricultural community.
On Monday, their protest coincided with Chouhan’s visit to Bhopal, where he addressed the convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) and lauded various farmer welfare initiatives, including the crop insurance scheme, being implemented by the Narendra Modi-led Union government.

The local police stood their ground and continued to stop the protesting farmers from heading towards the national capital.
According to police, a robust force of more than 2,000 personnel, including CAPF, Crime Branch staff and battalions, are keeping a vigil to maintain law and order and address any untoward incidents.

The Congress party accused the Modi government of treating farmers like criminals.
A senior police official said that they have beefed up security close to all the three border points -- Tikri, Singhu, and Shambhu -- where farmers have been protesting for the past 10 months.
NCP's Supriya Sule said, "the parties have urged the President to direct the government to discuss Pegasus issue and farm laws in Parliament." These parties want that the President should direct the government to take up these issues for discussion.
