India auto retail sales surge nearly 13 pc in April, driven by strong demand: FADA

The retail sales of passenger vehicles (PVs) in November recorded a 20 per cent growth on a year-on-year basis, said the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
The 42-day-long festive season, clubbed with reforms and rural resurgence, helped India’s auto retail sales soar to a record 4.02 million units in October 2025.
In June 2025, the Electric Vehicle (EV) segment registered two times growth in the sales on a year-on-year basis, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
The share of electric passenger sales in May is also 0.5 percentage points higher than the 3.5 per cent share in April as part of the rising trend.
The growth was driven by a surge in rural economy in parts of the country, good product availability and launch of new products.

For the first month of this fiscal, the automobile retail sales grew 27 per cent in April to 2.2 million units compared to the year before, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) said on Wednesday. As many as 1.74 million units were sold in April 2023.
The surge is on the back of enhanced vehicle availability, improved demand due to economic conditions, and the impact of marriage season.
The strong performance was supported by SUV demand, the introduction of new models, greater availability, effective marketing, consumer schemes, and the auspicious wedding season.
