Exactly at 5 pm on 29 April, all TV stations worth their salt began to harangue viewers with electoral data ~ never mind the fact that due to Election Commission restrictions, no exit poll results could be broadcast till 6.30 pm.

The Supreme Court has decided to hear a plea on Monday, i.e., October 31 that sought direction to the Election Commission to remove symbols from ballot and EVMs and replace it with 'name, age, educational qualification and photograph' of candidates.
The commission has also reviewed the availability of EVMs in the state and asked the district administrations to do preparations accordingly and get ready for elections.
The commission has said that these EVMs won`t be used for voting on Tuesday.

According to Mr Chaudhary, preparations for the elections are going on in full swing in the district. Over 6000 EVMs have already been checked and readied for the polls, while trainings are being imparted.
