New aviation norms ask airlines to improve transparency, display passenger rights widely and adopt uniform policies as India’s fast-growing air travel market sees rising passenger volumes.
The Maharashtra State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will register a case under appropriate legal provisions if it is established that the late Ajit Pawar was assassinated, CID Additional Director General of Police Sunil Ramanand said at a press conference here today.
Raut alleged that civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is a “corrupt department” and claimed that it enjoys political protection, questioning why the police has refused Sharad Pawar-led NCP MLA Rohit Pawar's demand to file an FIR against the DGCA.
High-drama was witnessed at the Marine Drive police station here on Wednesday after the late Ajit Pawar's nephew and Sharad Pawar-led NCP MLA Rohit Pawar, MLA Amol Mitkari, MLC Idris Naikwadi, and MLA Sandeep Kshirsagar requested police officials on duty to register a first information report (FIR) against the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The immediate trigger was a statement made on Thursday by Ajit Pawar-led NCP's spokesperson Anand Paranjape who said, “We have lost our god (Ajit Pawar), but unfortunately the Sharad Pawar-led NCP is politicising this incident”.
The final report will follow in due course, the Ministry of Civil Aviation informed on Thursday.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) on Saturday directed the officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to look into the matter after an operating flight 6E-2131 (Delhi-Bangalore) experienced a technical issue while on the take-off roll.
Nearly after two years of the pandemic, India is all set to resume regular international flights from Sunday, according to an order issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The restrictions, however, will not apply on international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), an official circular said.
'The flight operation shall be restored only after the airline has taken all the necessary punitive action against those responsible for the violation,' it said.
