After a little bit of improvement, the National Capital continued to experience 'very poor' air quality on Tuesday morning, the city with experienced air quality index (AQI) of 323, as per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR-India).
“Now that the effect of rain is gradually reducing we are increasing this campaign to sprinkle water across Delhi," said Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai.
Rai, however, admitted that rain and wind dispersed the pollution to a significant extent, as now it was down to 225 from 450.
The apex court saddled the local SHOs of police stations with the responsibility of enforcing the ban on stubble burning.
Following the implementation of GRAP Stage IV, all the construction and demolition activities, including public projects highways, roads, and pipeline work, have been banned in the national capital.
'As the sky is clear now, there is no need of odd-even scheme,' Kejriwal said while speaking to media.
Castellanos, who is the Ambassador of Dominican Republic, said the odd-even road rationing scheme in Delhi was a good start but suggested that the relevant authorities in the national capital should consider working closely with farmers in Punjab on the issue of crop residue burning.
The forecast also said that the drizzle delayed the recovery and improvement to the ‘very poor’ category is now expected only by Sunday.
The court observed that Delhi's local pollution is a major problem if stubble burning which contributes 40 per cent is kept out.
