A loud sound near the Radisson Hotel in Delhi's Mahipalpur area on Thursday morning triggered alarm among locals, but officials later confirmed that it was caused by a tyre burst and not an explosion.
The explosion that shook Delhi and the entire country on Monday, killing and injuring several people, was not an accident. It was the visible tip of a concealed network, a meticulously planned but poorly executed terror operation that slipped through the cracks of India’s urban vigilance.
The Cabinet expressed profound grief over the loss of innocent lives in the terror attack that occurred near the Red Fort on the evening of November 10.
Mohammed Hufaiza, 15, who has been sitting on the pavement outside the heavily-barricaded hospital, has not yet been able to see his uncle, 55-year-old Mohammad Farukh, one of the victims of Monday’s blast.
Two brothers of Dr Umar, who was working at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, have also been detained.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have traced the registration of the exploded car to Faridabad in Haryana, intensifying the manhunt. The blast has so far claimed ten lives and left 24 others injured.
The explosion, which occurred on Monday evening, also injured 24 people. Police, who are probing a possible terror angle, have identified the vehicle involved as a Hyundai i20 bearing a Haryana registration number.
The blast, believed to be caused by a car explosion, has claimed several lives, with reports indicating that at least ten people have been killed and many others injured. Several vehicles were also damaged in the explosion.
“The Home Minister has also called us, and information is being shared with him from time to time,” Commissioner Golcha said.
Government sources confirmed that the Prime Minister spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and took an update on the situation, which is being closely monitored at the highest level.
