Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday called on global maritime players to partner with India’s rapidly expanding shipbuilding industry, stressing that the nation’s shipyards, capable of delivering everything from aircraft carriers to research vessels, are poised to become a global hub for shipbuilding, ship repair, and maritime innovation.
The four DPSUs – Munitions India Limited (MIL), Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), India Optel Limited (IOL), and Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) – were also felicitated on being granted Miniratna (Category-I) status.
“The effective use of Made-in-India equipment by the Armed Forces during Operation Sindoor bolstered India’s reputation both regionally and internationally,” Singh said.
“In all this, India while advocating for the reformation of outdated international structures, stands strong in upholding the international rules-based order,” he said.
In his keynote address, the Defence Minister appreciated IDES officers for successfully fulfilling a dual responsibility, managing over 18 lakh acres of defence land and ensuring the welfare of civilians residing in 61 cantonments pan-India.
Amid escalating tariff tensions with the United States, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday remarked that in international relations, “there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies, only permanent interests.”
The course aims to enhance the professional capacity of women military officers for effective participation in multidimensional UN missions.
The students interacted with the Defence Minister as part of an event, "Aarohan: Dweep to Delhi," — a seven-day National Integration Tour organised by the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC). They will also witness the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15.
