The government on Friday decided to make available precaution doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the 18+ population group from 10 April.
The persons travelling to and from these nations are being provided certain relaxations, he added.
According to the health department data, Gurugram has now vaccinated over 2.95 million people in the district since January 16, when the vaccination process started.
The new travel advisory that will be implemented from October 4 at 4 a.m. says, "Formulations of the four listed vaccines -- AstraZeneca Covishield, AstraZeneca vaxzevria and Moderna Takeda qualify as approved vaccines." It adds further, "You must have had a complete course of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before you arrive in England".
“We are totally dependent on the centre to send vaccines and hence whatever limited stock comes to us, runs out in no time. Adequate vaccines are needed, coupled with a steady supply, to vaccinate maximum people before the onset of a possible third wave”
About 32 boxes reached Kolkata from Pune in an Air Asia flight and two more boxes arrived from Hyderabad on an IndiGo flight. The vaccines were handed over to the state health officials and were subsequently taken to the Baghbazar storage facility. Sources said the consignment comprised Covishield vaccines. More than 3 lakh doses of the vaccine came in from Pune.
The study also found that immunization with combination of Covishield and Covaxin was safe and the adverse effects were also found to be similar when compared to the same dose regimen.
A KMC notice issued by the chief municipal health officer informed that all 102 urban primary health centres (UPHCs) and 50 mega centres, administering only Covishield vaccines will remain shut on Saturday too since stocks are yet to arrive. It, however, said vaccination at 40 Covaxin UPHCs and Roxy mega centre will continue as usual.
A KMC health department official said if supplies keep running out so frequently, it will be difficult to cope with a probable third wave.
