Responding to a Point of Order raised by Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur after Question Hour in the assembly, the Chief Minister said the financial condition of the state continues to be severe.
Kumar resigned from Deputy Speaker's post on Saturday. He pipped other contenders including Education minister Rohit Thakur and MLAs Kuldeep Rathore, Suresh Kumar, Ashish Butail and Vinod Sultanpuri.

Chairing a review meeting of the Education Department here on Thursday, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete all necessary preparations within the prescribed timeframe.
"Himachal Pradesh has suffered extensive damage due to natural disasters, and the state government stands firmly with the affected families," he said, adding that the government is extending all possible support to people with its limited resources.
The state government is making every effort to normalise the situation after the monsoon, he added.
He emphasized that over 80% of the state’s population depends on agriculture and horticulture, making the growth of the agrarian sector a top priority.
