Highlighting the economic prospects of self-reliance in defence including aerospace and avionics, Gen Chauhan asserted that the defence industrial sector has a large potential to achieve the country’s economic goals.
According to the Army, General Chauhan reviewed the progress of infrastructure development and operational and logistics preparedness in the area.
The workshop was organised as part of India's chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and attended by speakers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Belarus, Mongolia, Pakistan and China and Russia.
In his maiden communication with the three defence forces, new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has asked the Army, Navy and Air Force to make a move ahead towards the creation of integrated theatre commands.
'China's People's Liberation Army was facing "unanticipated consequences" for its misadventure in Ladakh because of firm responses by Indian forces,' he said.
A study of modern warfare indicates that human conflict (on land) is often determined by the ability of naval forces to deliver ordnance/ troops/ airpower/ logistics ashore eg World War 2, the Korean conflict, Falklands conflict, Gulf wars etc.
A separate meeting was held earlier between the foreign secretary and the Prime Minister.
The CDS added that the Indian Army and the Indian Navy too will join in.
'Patience and discipline helped the forces in checking the spread of virus,' Chief of Defence Staff asserted.
