A young man was killed in a point-blank shooting in the Golabari area of Howrah early Wednesday, with the entire attack captured on CCTV. The two assailants surrounded the victim before opening fire and fleeing the scene. The victim was declared dead at hospital and a manhunt has been launched to trace the suspects.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s brother, all six girls study in the same school in Class 12, and attend the same tuition classes.
Dr Umar Nabi, an assistant professor at Al-Falah University and suspected to have been driving the car that burst into flames on Monday, had parked the vehicle at the Sunehri Masjid parking lot around 3:19 pm, the officer said.
The breakthrough came from an extensive analysis of CCTV footage from multiple locations, which allowed the police to track the vehicle's movement from its origin in Faridabad, Haryana, to the final blast site.
The explosion, which occurred on Monday evening, also injured 24 people. Police, who are probing a possible terror angle, have identified the vehicle involved as a Hyundai i20 bearing a Haryana registration number.
