BJP MP from Chandni Chowk, Delhi and Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Praveen Khandelwal on Sunday hailed the country emerging as the fourth largest economy in the world, stating that the development is a direct reflection on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership.
In view of the growing attempts by e-commerce and quick commerce companies to capture India’s vibrant retail trade worth over Rs 140 lakh crore annually, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Sunday said it is organising a national conference next week.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) observed a bandh in the national capital on Friday in protest against the Pahalgam terror attack. In a show of solidarity, markets remained closed as traders paid tributes to those killed in the massacre.
The confederation urged the government to examine the business module of such companies and ensure necessary action if required.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) came down heavily on the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for promoting e-commerce players to leverage district-specific products and their exports from the country.
The survey will be the largest survey of retail trade in terms of its potentiality and capacities, challenges faced by the traders, and suggestive remedial measures, claimed CAIT.
CAIT National President Shri B.C.Bhartia said that covid restrictions in Delhi and across the country has badly affected the retail trade which has suffered a trade loss of about 70% in the last 25 days.
Stressing the need of such a meeting, Bhartia said that CAIT is of a considered opinion that all kinds of services provided in India through any digital mode including social commerce must have to be brought under the ambit of e-commerce.
Under the campaign, the team of CAIT leaders will have a detailed discussion on the problems of the traders through the door-to-door campaign with the trade associations of the states in different cities and they will raise public opinion to solve the problems.
He said that on the one hand in pursuance of the vision of PM Narendra Modi, several ministries and state governments are eager to bring more and more sellers on an e-commerce platform but the provision of not allowing sellers without having GST number has become a major deterrent.
