The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has delivered an indictment of urban governance in Telangana, exposing deep-rooted failures in solid waste management (SWM) across Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has flagged financial irregularities, project delays and governance lapses in Jharkhand’s state public sector enterprises in a report tabled in the Assembly.
Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan on Sunday appreciated the pivotal role of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, calling the institution the “guardian of the public purse”.
According to Kapoor, the construction of these hospitals was never completed, and the CAG has already released a report on the alleged corruption involved in their construction.
The CAG's compliance audit report, 2022, which was presented in the assembly on Wednesday, highlighted several irregularities in six departments, including the Revenue & Disaster Management, Rural Development, Scheduled Tribe & Scheduled Caste Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare, Co-operation, etc.
The CAG also asked the ministry to verify from other sources, including third parties, their declared value of sales to check tax evasion.
The CAG report was tabled in the UP Assembly on the last day of the monsoon session yesterday.
The CAG report says that the off-budget borrowings of the kind availed by the KIIFB are adding to the debt burden of the Kerala government.
