Bharti Airtel on Wednesday announced that it has crossed the one million unique 5G user mark on its network, as the telecom operator rolls out 5G services in a phased manner. The company said it achieved this milestone in less than 30 days of its commercial launch even as the network is being built.
Bharti posted a consolidated revenue of Rs 34,728.7 crore for Q2FY23 as against Rs 28,435.2 crore in Q2FY22. The revenue increased by 22 per cent in comparison to the same period in FY22
Bharti Airtel will begin carrying out 5G services later this month, as it consented to requisite 5G equipment arrangements with South Korean tech giant Samsung.
Private 5G captive networks are about the deployment of high speed, enhanced data capacity, and ultra-low latency applications inside a closed manufacturing unit, hospital, airport and shipping port, among others.
Airtel has over 160 million monthly active users across its digital platforms - Airtel Thanks app, Airtel Xstream app and Wynk Music.
The Supreme Court on Thursday asked telecom companies to file affidavits within a period of five days outlining the roadmap of payment of the due adjusted gross revenue (AGR).
A bench of Justices Arun Mishra, S Abdul Nazeer and M R Shah asked the telcos to file a reply on the roadmap of payment in a period of five days.
In its order, the top court had said that no self-assessment can be done on AGR dues and no further objection on its verdict would be entertained.
In a BSE filing, the company said this move will raise the stake of Bharti International (Singapore).
