Hindustan Unilever added Rs 5,462.81 crore taking its mcap to Rs 5,49,393.18 crore.
At the close, the Sensex settled 1,068.74 points, or 1.28 per cent, lower at 82,225.92, while the broader Nifty ended at 25,424.65, down 288.35 points, or 1.12 per cent.
The announcement comes days after Airtel Money was granted NBFC license by the Reserve Bank of India on February 13.
In a week, the combined market valuation of four of the top 10 valued firms jumped by Rs 95,447.38 crore. Reliance Industries emerged as the biggest gainer.
The market valuation of Reliance Industries jumped by Rs 47,363.65 crore to Rs 19,17,483.71 crore, while Bharti Airtel added Rs 41,254.73 crore, taking its valuation to Rs 11,47,235.08 crore.
The combined market valuation of the top-10 most valued firms eroded by Rs 2,99,661.36 crore last week, in line with a bearish trend in equities. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) recorded the sharpest drop among them.
