Chief Minister Mann stated that clear instructions have been issued to private banking institutions to refrain from executing property attachments or land confiscations for loan recovery.
According to the State Election Commission, voting began at 8 a.m. and continued till 5 p.m.
The elections are being seen as politically significant for all major parties ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls, with urban voter sentiment expected to serve as a key indicator for the future political landscape in the state.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening at the government de-addiction centre located in a village under the Kot Ise Khan area.
According to officials, Punjab currently has around 2.14 crore registered voters, and the revision exercise aims to update the electoral database ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in the state.
On the outreach of the scheme, the Minister said that applications were received through the Ashirwad portal from 12 districts, including Faridkot, Ferozepur, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Patiala, SBS Nagar, Sangrur and Tarn Taran. “An amount of ₹13.05 crore has been sanctioned to cover all eligible beneficiaries from these districts.”
Sharing details of the campaign, Punjab’s Minister for Social Security, Women & Child Development, Dr Baljit Kaur said, “The primary objective of the Our Elders, Our Pride campaign is to connect senior citizens with essential health services, legal awareness and government welfare schemes so that they can lead a secure and dignified life.”
He remembered the supreme sacrifice made by Guru Sahib and his sons for protecting the Sikh community from the cruelty of tyranny Mughal rulers. He said Guru Sahib promoted universal brotherhood, secularism, and protected human rights.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused persons were in direct contact with a Pak-based handler through social media platforms, who were sharing coordinates to retrieve and further supply of weapon consignments.
Addressing the gathering, National Convener of AAP exhorted the people to follow Guru Ji’s universal message of love, secularism, religious tolerance, freedom of faith and peaceful co-existence.
