This comes days after Punjab Police dismantled an inter-state cheating racket operating during the pharmacy officer recruitment examination.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wanted to divert attention from his sacrilegious conduct against the Guru Sahiban and Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala by summoning him for questioning in an eleven-year-old firing case in Behbal Kalan which was still under investigation after all these years.
The event was attended by Dr Basant Garg, IAS, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), PSPCL, and Er Inderpal Singh, Director (Distribution).
The chief minister asserted that the AAP-led government in Punjab had never cited an empty treasury as an excuse for avoiding welfare measures.
The leaders said the AAP government had failed to defend the disproportionate assets case before the Supreme Court, just as it had earlier failed in the alleged narcotics case registered against Mr Majithia.
After the meeting, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann briefed the media through a joint press conference.
On the outreach of the scheme, the Minister said that applications were received through the Ashirwad portal from 12 districts, including Faridkot, Ferozepur, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Patiala, SBS Nagar, Sangrur and Tarn Taran. “An amount of ₹13.05 crore has been sanctioned to cover all eligible beneficiaries from these districts.”
Sharing details of the campaign, Punjab’s Minister for Social Security, Women & Child Development, Dr Baljit Kaur said, “The primary objective of the Our Elders, Our Pride campaign is to connect senior citizens with essential health services, legal awareness and government welfare schemes so that they can lead a secure and dignified life.”
He remembered the supreme sacrifice made by Guru Sahib and his sons for protecting the Sikh community from the cruelty of tyranny Mughal rulers. He said Guru Sahib promoted universal brotherhood, secularism, and protected human rights.
