A patient admitted to a healthcare facility in Behala for a heart procedure died a few hours after he was discharged yesterday, leading to an agitation by his family members, who alleged negligence resulting from reluctance in accepting the state government-issued Swasthya Sathi card.
Following massive protests by locals in Behala over the death of Class II student who was killed after being hit by a goods-carrying vehicle this morning, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has decided to write to the city police for implementing hawking rules properly near crossings in the area to handle the problems of encroachments on footpaths and roadside.
The railways minister also asked the people to take up the matter with the state if they have not got the benefit of the project.
According to the police, the body of Sushmita Mondal was found in a pool of blood in her master bedroom with her throat slit. Her son Tamajit was found dead in a similar manner but his body was in a sitting position.
The protest came against the backdrop of killing of 20 Indian soldiers in a clash with the Chines army at Galwan Valley.
It would take a year and Rs 160 crore for the construction to be completed.
The designs and the detailed project reports for both the bridges are ready, said state urban development and municipal affairs minister Firad Hakim after inspecting the two sites this morning.
