A Bangladeshi national, identified as Nadeem Sardar living for 15 years in the industrial town of Dankuni in Hooghly district, was arrested after his abortive attempt to fill up the enumeration form (SIR) in the name of a dead person in the locality, official sources said.
According to the police, the arrested Bangladeshi national has been identified as 28-year-old Mamun Hasan, who was residing in Dehradun for almost five years while evading detection by the administration and law enforcement agencies.
A Bangladeshi national and a woman were arrested from the airport area of the city for allegedly robbing a man they had targeted through a matrimonial website, police said on Friday.
Earlier on May 13, the BSF Meghalaya had apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals who illegally entered India through the International Border with intentions of robbery.
According to police sources, the case was "charged-sheeted" and the accused was "convicted" by the ADJ Court in Mekhliganj on 23 February 2022.
The BJP alleged that a Bangladeshi national called Noor Gaazi campaigned for TMC Sougata Roy in Dumdum.
