The 42nd Constitution Amendment Act, 1976 inserted Article 51A to prescribe Fundamental Duties which include, inter alia, (a) to abide by the Constitution and respect its ideal and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem, i.e., Jana Gana Mana.
