At least thrice this winter, the government acting through the Committee on Air Quality Management imposed restrictions on operation of those diesel and petrol vehicles in Delhi and the National Capital Territory region that were manufactured under emission norms current on the day they rolled out of factories but which have been overtaken by more stringent standards.

The city’s air remained in the 'very poor' category for the sixth consecutive day as the average index registered a spike of 38 points.

The AQI at Lodhi Road and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was recorded at 349 and 366, respectively, falling in the 'Very Poor' category.
After having a little bit of relief, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the National Capital dipped again to 'Severe' category in several areas, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB, primary pollutants making the city air unhealthy remained at PM 2.5 micro particles.
