Senior Congress leader and erstwhile Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has urged today railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce special trains on the Malda, Murshidabad, and Dinajpur (North and South) routes ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the festive season.
Senior Congress leader and president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury today has written a letter to the chief justice of Supreme Court requesting that the Kolkata police commissioner and director general of police (DGP) be sent on leave.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the Lok Sabha MP said: ''This is a new phenomenon we have never before experienced in our career in Parliament.''
The Congress MP demanded to expunge the "way Smriti Irani was addressing the Hon'ble President" from the proceedings of the House.
"Rhea is innocent and should be released without further harassment to her. She has been a victim of political conspiracy," the Lok Sabha member and Congress Bengal unit President said.
